Aggregate Restoration Disco is a CAD rendered sketch for a 2021 sculpture of the same name, produced for the artist’s 2021 solo exhibition SLIP TANK at the Naughton Gallery, Belfast. The work references the practice of restoring sculptural fragments for museum displays, which often resulted in completely new (technically incorrect) compositions. This work is signed and editioned by the artist.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
John Rainey works primarily in sculpture, combining traditional casting processes in materials like porcelain with digital fabrication technologies such as 3D printing. His sculptures emerge from periods working back and forth between these digital and physical worlds, often featuring material illusions and a disruption of familiar forms.
