Emma Wolf-Haugh

ABOUT THE WORK
Emma Wolf-Haugh is a visual artist, educator and writer whose work is shaped by economic necessity, engaging forms of recycling, thrift and ephemera resulting in soft modularity, wild archiving, and performative intervention, posing questions about value, accumulation, and authorship. They see a cultural centring of thrift as part of a tradition of queer-working class vernacular and ethics, promiscuous and adept at working within limitations.
Trans - Later is a new work in edition as part of the on-going project Sex in Public. It is made in response to themes informing Outburst Queer Art Festival 2022. Embroidered onto customised second hand denim jackets sourced in Belfast, Trans - Later makes a nod to the creative processes involved when gender, sexuality, identity and cultural signifiers are woven together on our own terms, shifting the parameters of legibility. Trans - Later marks the body as a site of constant change, where we can re-write ourselves at any time.
