Sinéad O’neill-Nicholl has a research based practice and works predominantly with sound and light to create installation and performance art. With a focus on manipulating sound recordings using mixing skills and audio editing software techniques, Sinéad examines language in the context of justice and investigates the connection between communication channels and identity bias.
ARTIST BIO
Sinéad O’Neill-Nicholl is a current member and former Chair/Trustee of Vault Artist Studios. Recent collaborative works include Bag of Excuses (2025) at Vault, Belfast with Gemma Mae Halligan and love reimagined, hear more, feel more (2024) with John D’Arcy at SARC, Belfast. Solo exhibitions include The C-word, paradox and optimism of the will (2022), University of Atypical (Belfast) and ni bheidh se mar a bhí (2022), Gerard Dillon Gallery (Belfast). Selected group exhibitions included In Living Memory (2025), Household (Belfast), BLOCK (2024) Creative Exchange (Belfast), K-fest (2022)(2021) (Killorglin), Hindsight (2020) at Rua Red (Dublin). Selected awards include Immersive Arts UK (2025) Arts Council NI, International Development Award (2024), Individual Artist Digital Evolution Award (2023), ACNI SIAP (2023), Screaming Pope Award Finalist (2021).
